The Boston Horns are led by Garret Savluk and Henley Douglas Jr., former front men of the Heavy Metal Horns. Over the
course of 20 years, they’ve collaborated and toured with a wide range of artists including Tower of Power, Extreme,
Johnny A., Shawn Mullins, Laverne Baker, Susan Tedeschi, James Montgomery, Los Lobos and the Del Fuegos, to
name a few.  Their compelling mix of funk, jazz and soul has kept them busy performing in clubs in New England, at the
New Orleans Jazz Festival and beyond.  The band just released a new CD, Shibuya Gumbo.

Barrence Whitfield is a living legend in the greater Boston area.  Primarily known for his work as Barrence Whitfield and
the Savages, he is a frequent collaborator with the Boston Horns, and is featured on their new CD, Shibuya Gumbo.  
Barrence has performed on stages across the globe, having opened for and played with Bo Diddley, Tina Turner, George
Thorogood, Robert Cray, The Reverend Solomon Burke, Los Lobos, Taj Mahal, Richard Thompson and many more.  His
performances are energetic, funky, and not to be missed!

Performing as part of the Downtown Showcase series on sunday, August 10, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Derby Square
Nat Simpkins Band with Henri Smith are veterans of the New Orleans music scene.  They bring a hot, spicy sound to
stages that have included the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Tipitina's, the House of Blues, Boston's "Steppin'
Out" and way, way more.  They performed on Good Morning America's tribute to New Orleans recently.  Henri Smith, who
relocated to New England after Katrina struck, adds a rich, bluesy voice that is a perfect compliment to the band.  They
will have you up on your feet, enjoying this excellent New Orleans-inspired music!
