PAQUITO D'RIVERA
GRAMMY AWARD WINNING, National Endowment of Arts Jazzmaster
Paquito D’Rivera performs in a special event with The Boston Horns
Big Band. We're honored to have Paquito D'Rivera support the
Salem Jazz and Soul Festival. Paquito D'Rivera's first recognition as
a solo artist by the Grammy Recording Academy came in 1996 with
the highly acclaimed recording Portraits of Cuba.  Since then, Mr.
D'Rivera has received numerous recognitions as an artist and
composer. Most recently Mr. D’Rivera received his 9th Grammy for
Best Classical Recording for the record Riberas with the Buenos
Aires String Quartet, and is a recipient of the National Medal for the
Arts.   He also won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition
2004 for his “Merengue” as performed by the distinguished cellist Yo-
Yo Ma.  In both 2004 and 2006, the Jazz Journalists Association
honored Mr. D’Rivera as the Clarinetist of the Year.

HEAVY METAL HORNS
The Heavy Metal Horns will reunite to bring us their distinct sound,
which has been described as combination of jazz, world beat, rock,
and pop.   Garret Savluk (trumpet), John Vanderpool (sax), Henley
Douglas Jr (tenor and bari sax), Hikaru Tsukamoto (trombone), John
Matthews (keyboard and vocals), Thaddeus Hogarth (guitar and
vocals), Felix Rentschler (guitar), John Perkins (drums), Craig
Rawding (vocals) and Mike Miksis (bass).




BOBBY KEYES
Master guitarist, writer, and producer, Bobby Keyes is truly a
musician's musician. He's worked in bands with Jerry Lee Lewis,
Sleepy LaBeef, Ben E. King, and Martha Reeves to name a few, and
his studio credits include extensive work in Nashville, Memphis,
Muscle Shoals, and most recently Los Angeles.  Here's Bobby
playing with the all-star band The Mystix.
